In 2005, the Walter E. Sundquist Pavilion and George F. Riley Park were established in the heart of downtown Farmington (a suburb of Detroit), replacing a strip mall parking lot. The pavilion and town green now host the Farmington Farmers & Artisans Market, as well as festivals, concerts, and civic events year-round. The farmers market averages thousands of visitors each summer Saturday, and has boosted the downtown economy and helped define downtown Farmington’s sense of place. The photographs include a picture of the parking lot that previously existed on the site.
