Mesa Arts Center is located in Mesa, one of the largest suburban cities in the country, east of Phoenix. The arts center has turned Mesa, which was formerly a bedroom community, into a suburban cultural destination. It has also helped revitalize the City’s blighted downtown and provides a dramatic new space for civic events. Mesa Arts Center includes a performing arts building with four theaters; a studio arts education building housing 13 studios; Mesa Contemporary Arts, which has exhibit space and a sculpture court; a large, public promenade with a 300-foot long water channel, which provides a respite from the desert heat; and numerous small park spaces, which allow for outdoor performances, exhibits, and gathering.
