The Colony at Bandon Cove is an 18-unit upscale rowhouse development overlooking the ocean in a small town on the Oregon coast. The project won a “Best Low-Rise” award at Multi-Housing News’ 2008 Design Excellence Awards. The project team sought to “make the development look natural in its environment.” The two-story buildings, which have a low profile, are arranged in a crescent shape that follows the shape of the bluff where they are sited. Earth tones and cedar siding, a material that is well-suited to the coastal weather conditions, also help the Colony fit in with its natural setting.
